After a year off the Giants return to the series facing off against ther Detroit Tigers.
The Giants return to the series facing off against a tough slugging Detroit Tigers. The Giants were considered a well balanced team with good players at every position but no standouts like the Tigers. The Tigers strong point were their bats especially that of Miguel Cabrera, the first player since 1967 to win the batting triple crown.
The series ended in only four games with the Giants sweeping the Tigers. The Tigers usually outstanding bats were silent throughout the series until the final game and their pitching just wasn't up to snuff like they had been all year long. However the Giants bats did wake up, especially that of the "panda", Pablo Sandoval. Pablo matched heroics of past legends by hitting three home runs in one game and averaging over .500 for the series.
