Oh sure, it's an interesting story which takes a variety of well designed characters to interesting places, but there's a tiny little thing I hate about the story which dominates probably the latter half. It's the wacky misunderstanding that causes the main ant dude to lead a bunch of clown bugs into battle under the assumption that they are Mighty Warrio rs. It's my least favorite way a story can develop itself and add drama with a little secret that everyone tries desperately to hide because it can only resolve itself one way, with a miserably awkward scene in which the protagonist gets what's coming to him. Now, this isn't to say that a little secret is always a bad thing. In fact, I feel it's only a bad thing in family movies. In say, Inglourious Basterds, the scene where the Basterds try to keep their cover in a pub full of enemy soldiers is perfectly watchable because you know the worst case scenario is a bad ass action scene.
I suppose barring that it's an alright movie, but honestly I hate it so much I can't help but write off the rest. Anyone feel the same way?
