Alejandro Jodorowsky created some of the most memorable surreal films of the 70's. He also writes comic books and has devised his own form of psychotherapy called psychomagic.

Jodorosky is best known as the writer and director of the surreal spiritual movies El Topo and The Holy Mountain. Both were cult hits, with El Topo being known as one of the first "midnight movies."

Outside of films, he is a world-renowned tarot card reader.

Jodorosky was at one time tapped to direct the film version of Dune. Salvador Dali was to play Baron Harkonnen  and HR Giger was to do the design. However, plans fell through and David Lynch became the film's eventual director.
