When a story ends with all major conflicts being resolved, only to introduce a new conflict just before the end credits, implying that our heroes go on to have many more adventures.
This sort of open-ended finale differs from a sequel tease in that it is not meant to set up future installments in the series, but to give audience the sense that these characters and this universe will continue on long after the movie or show has ended.
