Animal Kingdom Forum

This movie had been sitting on my hard drive for about 6 months, and I finally got around to watching it. I should have watched it six months ago, because this movie was awesome. The protagonist was a one-dimensional, lumbering, mumbly oaf, but all of the supporting cast was brilliant:he uncles, the matriarch, the police detective, everyone. If you like multigenerational crime sagas (who doesn't?), this is a pretty great one.

It is indeed pretty great. I love how arbitrarily dangerous it is, with people who seem perfectly fine erupting into violence when pushed to their limits. There's a lot of feeling out where everyone stands that I really like, and I think it pays off well in the ending.

You might also try watching The Square, which is by the same directors and has a similar tone with a much better lead. It's on Netflix Instant, if you have that. Better than Animal Kingdom, I think.

Just watched it. The brothers gave off a real sense of menace.

I thought it was just 'Ok'. Wasn't that wrapped in it.

I especially didn't think Jackie Weaver deserved an Oscar nomination. No way.

I love this movie. Made my best of 2010 list.
