Another movie I watch at least once a year.

Before I even watch the video I will say this is a great choice for a Bestie. Although space travel is a difficult concept and a bit of a wasted effort given our current technology it is still interesting to realize what the astronauts endured.

Classic film. Never gets old.

Great film. It also started the tradition of Tom Hanks getting behind very well done historical entertainment.

Great Film. I would go as far as to say that it's Ron Howard's Masterpiece.

Speaking of which...taken from IMDB:

"Houston, we have a problem," is probably the world's most known misquote. After the bang, the conversation was as follows. Swigert: "Okay, Houston, we've had a problem here." Jack Lousma: "This is Houston. Say again please." Lovell: "Houston, we've had a problem. We've had a main B bus undervolt." However, this was a deliberate change suggested by Tom Hanks to better convey the sense of urgency in the scene.

Excellent choice, one of my favorite movies. Even though I've seen it a dozen times (and knew the result before seeing it), the end reentry scene always makes me tense up and tear up. It's also a great movie to watch with older relatives, who likely have their own memories having lived through these events. I think that's how Lovell's family best fits in - all the other major characters are professionals trying to deal with things professionally, but the family scenes represent what the vast majority of the world was going through watching the events on TV.

Also one thing I would add that is a highlight to me - the music. It might be a bit generic, but it always perfectly complimented and enhanced the scenes it was used in to me.

Wow, don't realize that they actually took a vomit comet to film the zero-g scenes. It's pretty impressive that they went that far for authenticity.

Haven't watched the video yet, but I love this movie. Although if "The Right Stuff," doesn't make it someday I will be upset.

Good pick, although I'd have rather seen Sunshine for a space choice.

Sunshine needs a Half Good, not a Besties.

More like 2/3rds good...frak the third act

I'll admit I didn't like the third act the first time I watched it, but it's grown on me immeasurably since then with every subsequent viewing. Can't explain why. It just gives me nerd boners.

First time I saw this movie was at the beginning of Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama as a kid. It didn't seem like reality at all at the time.

It was crazy watching it again after seeing a Saturn V in person, the Apollo 16 capsule, and talking to one of the astronauts from an Apollo mission.

I can barely being to wrap my mind around the concept of getting to the moon but all that shit really happened. I only hope humanity will reach a similar high point in my lifetime, but it's looking fairly unlikely as our interests have turned more towards war than the betterment of mankind through exploration of the universe in which we reside. That's all I'll say on that though. This isn't the place for that discussion.

Back to the topic; incredible movie, incredible story.
