Glad to see the grading (and the rest of the movie) still looks like dog shit.

This looks baaaad. The actress playing Dagny was especially awful.

Who was that guy in the first clip in the glasses? I've been racking my brain for it but I cannot even think of another film association.

Even these small tidbits were unbearable. God damn it do I hate Ayn Rand.

OH MY GOD DAGNY IS TERRIBLE They should have gotten Carrie Anne-Moss to do her, that's who I pictured. She'd basically just have to be Trinity. And why does Rearden look so smiley?
You know, I actually really like the book as a work of (extremely biased) fiction. But I have no faith in this movie. It seems to have no production value (even the sound is off, and that seems basic as hell) and has less of an impact than it would if it were set in the actual time period that it really took place in. DURING the progressive era, when these things Ayn Rand was writing against were taking place, would have mattered.

Plus, putting this out at the tail end of a depression is like murdering yourself.

By the way, add some text to it. It's something that makes sense on a movie website, but I dunno, people are always happy to call "youtube spam"

honestly i read the book and the book itself is a FUCKING drag so i wonder how shitty actors and cheapass decorations can save it

As someone who is slowly but assuredly getting through the book, this looks both terrible but really intriguing.

When I know that a motion picture has Edi Gathegi acting in it, I usually know to stay away.

I'll be curious to see how this turns out. Hope it plays in SF this weekend, but I doubt this town is really where they're expecting a lot of money to come from.

He looks like a less good-looking Social Network-version of Justin Timberlake to me (especially with the glasses on). Other than that I'm stumped.

Found out who that guy was. His name is Patrick Fischler. You probably know him better as Jimmy Barrett on Mad Men. Other actors in this movie show its clear starpower:

  • Da Fino from The Big Lebowski (The Knutsens guy)
  • The Kahana captain from Lost (whose name was Gault. Coincidence? I think not)
  • Det. Stensland from LA Confidential

And that's about it. For most of the actors this is their first major film. A great sign.
