Was Atlas Shrugged bad on purpose?

This is just crazy talk, but think about it. Most people consider Ayn Rand's philosophy very black and white: either it's a hated or loved subject. What if Paul Johhanson secretly hated Ayn Rand and all this Tea Party political struggle and decided once and for all to destroy anyone's love of it by creating a poorly budgeted movie with stiff acting? Again, conspiracy, but what do you think?

honestly its just my opinion but i thought that the book itself wasnt very interesting since not a lot of stuff actually happens there, its just rand pushing her philosophy through this fictional world, so i think that even if they hired all the best actors and spent a huge budget on it it would still be a boring movie

I thought that too. Maybe Atlas Shrugged just sucks as a movie. The plot would have to take a back seat and really focused on character development to get even close to a good Atlas Shrugged movie.

I think this film sucks purely down to the fact that people who hold views like this don't tend to be artistically minded.

What are you talking about "suck?"

I don't know if you know this, but kids love trains. Atlas Shrugged, the #1 family film of 2011.

I haven't seen it myself, but from watching One Tree Hill, Paul Johansson really likes to go over the top when acting; I'd imagine that's also reflected in his direction.

I don't think so I think it was just an incredibly dreary novel that would be very difficult to bring to the screen as it is and hiring Paul Johansson who looks to be a "just get it done" type of person without any passion for the book just resulted in what looks to be a fairly lifeless and awkward adaptation. Not that passion always means success, look at Battlefield Earth. I am enjoying how many new members or first time reviewers are popping up like crazy over at Rotten Tomatoes just so they can give the film 4 or 5 stars.

I don't know, this would be kind of big stain on his career just for a middle finger to Ayn Rand.
