After Burt and newly-pregnant Verona find out his parents are moving away before the baby's birth, they decide to hit the road and track down old friends to find a suitable place to raise their child. Along the way they discover what it really means to be a parent.

Melanie Lynskey, who plays Munch in the film, made her screen debut in _Heavenly Creatures (1994)_ with Kate Winslet. Winslet was married at the time to the film's director, Sam Mendes.
