Am I the only one non-ironically looking forward to this?

Yes they probably didn't need to waste money on a board game license to get this movie to work, yes the plot sounds completely ridiculous, but for some reason I'm looking forward to this movie for what it is- a big dumb popcorn flick. I am unabashedly looking forward to this movie, and I will most likely be contributing to the insane profit this movie will make. I apologize in advance Screened community.

If it didn't look so much like, and wasn't produced by the guys from, Transformers then I would honestly want to go and check it out.

I do hope it turns into some dumb action fun but I'm afraid it may take itself too seriously.

I'm looking forward to it. It's dumb, but I'm okay with that. I want to see stuff get blown the fuck up. And this movie looks like it will do that pretty well, even if the rest of it is absolute shit.

If it had some different producers I think I could actually be excited about this film. Peter Berg is not a bad director because The Rundown is one of my top 25 favorite action films.

Well Shia Labeouf is the worst part of the Transformers films and he's not in this so I'm keeping an open mind I guess, but I'm not expecting anything. Taylor Kitsch could be just as bad, and the trailers have been pretty poor so far in making it seem like anything other than transformers: again.

This promises to be the laugh riot of the summer, so yes I am very much looking forward to it.

Oh, wait, you said non-ironically. Nevermind then.

First off: $200,000,000. 200 million dollars. thats million bucks.

200 million on a movie based on a board game. Basically, if I don't see this opening day, I will never forgive myself.

I'm not even ironically looking forward to it.

I was super looking forward to it as some dumb fun..

And it is extremely dumb and occasionally fun.. the leaps in logic this movie ask you to take are absurd at best..

It was okay at best

On here most likely

I like big stupid summer movies,I admitted to liking Transformers 2 at first...than I slept on it. It just looks like they wanted to make another Transformers movie but without Bay or the expectations. Hopefully this ends in some sort of Rihanna music video in the credits.

I'll wait for a youtube click of hopefully Liam Neeson They sunk my Battleship.

I'm in Australia and it was released yesterday, so saw it last night (literally about 4 hours ago (it's 2 in the morning now)). Wasn't looking forward to it, but my friends are lovers of special effects and so I got dragged along.

Overall, it's not terrible. If you have the ability to switch of your mind and enjoy things for being dumb, it's not too bad at all. The long birds eye shots of the battle field made me chuckle, and there is a sequence where they tried to justify why the movie is called Battleship by having the scene that is essentially a game of Battleship. I enjoyed it because it was so silly, but I did wonder if it was intentionally silly or just turned out that way. Either way, I rate it higher than Transformers 2 & 3, though that doesn't say much in the scope of things.

I think you're gonna have a fair idea wether or not you'll like it before you go in. It's one of those movies.

It looks like the kind of dumb summer fun the Transformers movies should of been.   I like Peter Berg as a director.   The Rundown proves that Berg can do action films.  Seriously, go watch The Rundown if you haven't yet.  I think it is The Rock's best movie and Christopher Walken is incredible as the villain.

@Travissty: I still kinda liked it but thought it was a little bit to dumb.. that whole ending sequence was just, seriously? where'd the rest of the crew just disappear to.. Although i couldn't stop laughing at the reloading the gun bit

I still think the action in Transformers 2 + 3 was a little more enjoyable

EDIT: There is also like a 5 minute post-credits scene for anyone interested

Yeah, it's definitely pretty dumb. But I think it works in its favour. I definitely feel like SOME of the dumbness was intentional, and when something was really silly, I thought it was hilarious. When the Pink Panther music kicked in at the start... You don't do that to make the audience take you seriously. I think Michael Bay took Transformers too seriously, so when something silly happens, it feels out of place (the terrible parent scenes and the Transformer testicles in 2, for example). I dunno, the more I think about, the more I can't believe I'm comparing a film to Transformers and trying to decide which is better.

@Travissty: Yeah I did enjoy some of the humor, especially that opening bit and when they were carrying the ammunition at the end.. just kind of some of the absurdity of hey he is the captain of his ship but he's also doing everything else..

I think yeah that some was great some was terrible and alot was dumb, but still kinda fun.. and Peter Berg's little cameo

Big dumb popcorn flicks aren't my cup of tea. I do like popcorn. But, ironically, not tea.

I'm sure you're not the only one looking forward to it.

I am looking forward to this. It looks fun, so far inoffensive, and visually mind-blowing. The Transformers films were too crude, morally murky, and stupid-beyond-stupid to make it worth enjoying the special effects. I am hoping Battleship will provide the same awesome action without the obnoxiousness. It doesn't need to have a great plot. Also, Peter Berg did a great job on Hancock.

I'm looking forward to it, but my liking is all kinds of ironic.

All of the trailers after the first one have actually made me less ironically interested in seeing it, but I'll probably go with some friends anyway.

Like many on here, I actually like Berg's work. I'm one of a few Hancock apologists, and The Rundown is The Rundown.

Sadly, there doesn't seem to be much here other than a Transformers clone. Maybe it's more than that? I'd be willing to check it out if so, but I don't know. Hoe.

Trailer 2: Battleship

Alexander Skarsgard's facial expression more or less mirrors my own in regards to this latest Battleship trailer. Remind me again how this is not an elaborate Michael Bay parody?

Trailer: Battleship

I hate judging movies based on trailers, but...this is 100% guaranteed to be the dumbest movie of all time. OF ALL TIME.
