Belinda Carlisle is a singer who became famous with rock band The Go-Go's before launching a successful solo career.

Personal Life 

Belinda was born in Hollywood, California. She is the oldest of seven children. In 1986 she married Morgan Mason, who appeared in videos for her songs Mad About You and Heaven is a Place on Earth. Together they have one son,  James Duke Mason. Since 1994, they have lived in France. 
 

Music Career 

 

The Go-Go's

 The Go-Go's formed in 1978 with Belinda (vocals), Jane Wiedlin (vocals, guitar),   Margot Olaverra (bass), and Elissa Bello (drums). Charlotte Caffey (guitar, vocals) joined shortly after. Bello was replaced in 1979 by Gina Schock while Olaverra was replaced in 1980 by Kathy Valentine. The group came to the height of their popularity in the early eighties with singles  We Got the Beat and Our Lips Are Sealed being their biggest hits. They temporarily split in 1985 but have frequently reunited for performances since 1990. They released an album of new material in 2001. 
 

Going Solo  

Carlisle released her first solo album, Belinda, in 1986. The album was a commercial success and featured a number of hit singles. Carlisle then contributed songs to films Mannequin and Burglar. Her second album in 1987, Heaven on Earth, was an even bigger hit than her first. Carlisle had continued solo success with 1989's Runaway Horses and three albums in the nineties, Live Your Life Be Free, Real and A Woman and a Man. In 2007, she released a French language album, Voilà. Many of the songs on her solo albums were written with her Go-Go's friend Charlotte Caffey.
