Besties: Scrooged

Has Bill Murray's late-80's screwball Christmas film aged well? Rorie says it has, in the latest edition of Besties. (Mild spoilers ahoy, as usual.)

Dig Deeper into Scrooged

Scrooged is a modern retelling of Charles Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol. It follows the story of Frank Cross a TV station president as he is visited by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future.

Never seen this one.

I love Scrooged. It's such a good movie.

I remember playing Scrooge in a play in the 7th grade.

It is so much more fun to play the bad guy.

FUCK YOU, ARBOR DAY!

"I want to see her nipples" is one of my favorite lines in any Christmas movie.

Love Scrooged, love Bill Murray. Funny enough it's the only version of A Christmas Carol I've seen in my life. Except maybe a Don Rosa Scrooge McDuck comic in my childhood, did that ever exist?

I finally saw it all the way through and I enjoyed it.

A great Christmas movie choice for a Bestie. I know a number of friends and family who love this movie, probably more than it deserves, but alas, a nice choice here.

When I was younger Scrooged never made much sense to me, the 80s updated version of A Christmas Carol was the exact opposite of what I wanted out of a Christmas movie. But perhaps after years of seeing the Carol done and done again combined with understanding the sarcastic, over the top comedy acting of Bill Murray I have now begun to appreciate the film so much more.

I remember that the cover of this movie always used to freak me out in the video store when I was a kid. But I never watched it.

Then I went and checked the movie's name in Portuguese, and here it is called "The Ghosts Strike Back". So, yeah.

The 80's seemed to spawn a number of iconic holiday movies. My favorite being Christmas vacation. Followed closely by Scrooged and A Christmas Story. Vacation is infinitely watchable with the same scenes getting a laugh no matter how many times I watch it. Scrooged laughs are a bit more dark but I always dug it for that.

This is probably the worst Christmas movie I've ever watched. It's just mean-spirited and vile.

My #2 version of a Christmas Carol, being edged out ever so slightly by The Muppets Christmas Carol. Love me some Bill Murray, but damnit, i love me some Muppets just a little bit more.

this is by far one of, if not, my favorite christmas movie.

Claire Phillips: Taxi. Can you get me to the IBC building in 15 minutes?

Ghost of Christmas Past: Which floor?

LOVE this movie.

My parents took me and my brother to watch Scrooged. Still one of our favorite holiday movie.

Man... Inception really set a trend for these soundtracks...

That statement is so absurd to me that I can't help wondering if you're trolling.
