Good pick. Probably my favorite deep-sea oil rig discoveres aliens in the depths, while WW3 threatens above-movie. And liquid oxygen.
Love this movie. First time I saw it was the director's cut and it did lose me after awhile. Original cut is superior.
One of my favorites of all time.
Longest resuscitation scene in cinema history?
I don't remember the giant waves being in the theatrical version at all. Wasn't that just the special edition?
I feel kinda bad for not remembering seeing this movie......
I haven't seen this movie, but I want to and plan to soon. Having said that, can someone tell me if Rorie spoils any of it in the video? Should I wait to watch this Bestie until after I see the flick?
Beastie? I always thought this would one day go up in one of as a feature in Defending your movie
The CGI water scene is still amazing today.
@PacManFevaa: There are significant spoilers in the video, yes.
I've seen this movie many times. It's absolutely one of my favorite sci-fi, underwater, alien films. As a kid that drowning scene was pretty heavy for me. And I loved the whole theme of committing yourself to death to save some one you love.
@Swabbleflange: Thanks much. I shall also stop reading these comments.
This movie topped (and was the reason for) a list I made a while back of movies where the director's cut was worse than subsequent versions:
Worse Director's Cuts
I feel this is probably Cameron's weakest film, outside of Piranha 2.
Michael Biehn is awesome in this
Great flick. Easy Bestie.
Been a long time since I've seen this one and I recall it being promoted as a sort of "Aliens" under the sea but that wasn't quite a very good marketing scheme nor an apt description at all.
One of the better Sci-Fi movies made, even though I am hit and miss with James Cameron, he did a great job here on all fronts.
Worthy of a Bestie, Rorie, great choice.
Though the theatrical version was great, I prefer the Special Edition of the film. Is the SE just another name for the Director's Cut?
