Big Brother is an American reality show (with many variations of the show in many different countries) where thirteen house guests live under one roof for three months straight, with contestants getting voted out weekly. Big Brother is currently finishing its 12 season, with a 13 season planned for next year. Big Brother’s main attraction and appeal has always been its great selection of cast and characters. One of the more unique aspects of Big Brother is that it shows three episodes a week, all with varying purposes and competitions.
Every Thursday night, Big Brother airs a live show (though it begins with prerecorded content) and by the end of that episode, you’ll find out who was eliminated from the game and who the new HOH (Head of Household) will be. The HOH stays in a much larger, more comfortable room atop the house they live in and will get sent food and letters from home (They have no connection to the outside world whatsoever while living under the Big Brother roof) and gets to decide who to put up at the next week’s nominations.
During the Live Eviction episodes, Julie Chen will appear and talk to us occasionally about the happenings within the house and she’ll talk to the houseguests once a week, which is the only person they get to talk to outside of the thirteen people that are in the house. Once the eviction begins, players are called to the Diary Room to cast their votes on who they want to evict. Once that person is evicted, he has only a minute to pack his things and leave the house.
The Diary Room is a room in which the houseguests will enter to then talk about whatever situation is currently going on in the house. Everything said within the Diary Room is completely unheard by the other houseguests which means the Diary Room is where you’ll normally hear people’s true thoughts on a situation come out.
On Sunday night, a (not live) show will air of Big Brother that will feature the normal Big Brother shananigans but also have a completion in which the winners will become that week’s “Have’s” and the losers will be the “Have Not’s”. The Have’s for the week will sleep in a normal, single bed, eating whatever food they desire. While the Have Not’s for the week will be forced to eat two combinations of food that is usually voted on by America. For example, they’ve had to eat Broccoli and Bean Dip. That topped with slop, which consists of tons of mush all blended together.
Also airing on Sunday is the nomination ceremony where the current HOH will select two house guests and place them up on the block for eviction.
Rounding out the Big Brother week is another episode airing on Wednesday night where the main focus is the Power of Veto. If there are over six houseguests currently in the house, they’ll all draw randomly to decide who plays in the POV competition. The only people that are guaranteed to play each week are the ones who are on the block to be evicted, and the current HOH.
In the competition, the six players will compete for the Power of Veto, a necklace that will give whoever wins the power to veto any one of the HOH’s nominations off of the block, which then means the HOH will have to put up another houseguest.
