In the series premiere, polygamist Bill Henrickson tries to satisfy the emotional, romantic and financial needs of his three wives and seven children in suburban Salt Lake City. As if that isn't enough, he's launching his second 'Home Plus' store.
Bill compensates for rising demands at home, and looks for protection from Roman's henchmen. Meanwhile, Franklin's hospital convalescence ends with a visit from Roman; and Sarah forges a new friendship.
Despite being admonished by Bill, Nicki tries to throw an extravagant birthday party for her 5-year-old son Wayne. Meanwhile, Bill installs a 'perimeter of defense' around his home; Barb tries to keep the family's secret hidden from the neighbors
Bill searches for answers to an unsettling dream; Later, on a hunting trip with Ben, he gets the answer for which he's been searching. Barb gets a long-term teaching job; Nicki fends off her creditors; Joey pays Bill a visit with news about Roman.
Bill and Barb's behavior arouses Nicki's suspicions. Meanwhile, Bill and Don get dirt on Roman after placing an anonymous call to Attorney General's 'Polygamy Czar'; and a Home Plus employee comes forward with an unsettling accusation.
Bill makes Roman a settlement proposal; Lois sees Roberta's demise as an opportunity to rise to First Wife. Meanwhile, Barb bails Nicki out of a jam at Home Plus, and Ben ponders whether he should follow in his father's footsteps.
Despite the feud with Roman, Bill considers launching an expensive marketing campaign. Nicki gives a pair of missionaries the heave-ho; Margene is invited to Pam's church; Barb discovers Nicki's secret; Roman gives his answer to Bill's proposal.
Franklin, his wives and dog descend on Bill's just in time for Easter--as does Joey. Meanwhile, Bill finds himself drowning in lawsuits; Nicki learns she's not alone in debt; and Bill surprises Roman with a final settlement offer.

Barb gets an unwanted visit from her sister Cindy. Meanwhile, as his feud with Roman intensifies, Bill seeks to infiltrate the UEB Priesthood Council. Ben gives Brynn a token of his affection, and is offered a much more significant one in return.
The Henricksons' public stock is rising, as Barb finds herself a finalist for Mother of the Year and Bill is asked to become the newest member of the Salt Lake City Leadership League. Meanwhile, the wives mull over custody scenarios in their wills.
In the Season One finale, Bill and Joey blindside Roman at a UEB Priesthood Council meeting. Will their triumph be short-lived? Wanda's bad habits resurface; Nicki's allegiances are tested; Barb seizes the spotlight at the Mother of the Year awards.
Bill, Nicki and Cara Lynn take a trip to Washington; which gets Nicki into a whole lot of trouble with J.J. Alby's feelings for Dale continue to grow, until he finds himself being taunted by his late father, Roman Grant. Margie's feels upset when no one can attend her show.
In the aftermath of the election, the Henrickson's struggle to deal with their new public polygamist lifestyle as it takes its toll on Barbara, who turns to drink, Margene, who loses her job and Nicki, whose son is hurt in a bullying attack.
After discovering Cara Lynn's special intelligence, Niki turns into a control freak and tries to improve her studies in any way she can. Barb tries to reconnect with her mother again, but a public fallout turns the relationship even more sour. Margie's breakdown worsens; putting Ana at risk and Bill's political career flounders when everyone seems to be against him.
It's Christmas, but that doesn't mean joy and laughter in the Henrickson household. Cara Lynn searches for answers about the disappearance of her father. Bill is forced to deal with his mother, who is suffering from a mental illness. Alby's wife, Lura runs away after he attempts to 'purify' the compound and Marge tells a secret that could potentially break-up the family.
With his sworn-in ceremony just days away, Bill tries to tackle the anti-polygamist sentiment that officials are pushing. Barb and Nikki give Margene the cold-shoulder after discovering she was underage during the marriage. Cara Lynn grieves for the loss of her father and invites an old-face to the city.
Bill's problem with the legislation on re-criminalising polygamy seems to go away; but a new hurdle is put in his way, giving him a difficult decision to make. Barb announces her 'higher calling' to the family. Margene's berry business seems to be a hit. Niki's intentions become unclear as she tries to legalise her marriage with Bill and in order to gain revenge, Alby unleashes a devastating, dangerous plan.
The upcoming divorce of Bill and Barb begins to take its toll on the family, with Margene and Ben strongly disagree with it and Niki, who feels powerless when Barb introduces a prenuptial agreement. Cara Lynn begins a dangerous affair with her teacher and Rhonda and Verlan go to desperate lengths to get money.
It's Nikki and Bill's wedding day and Bill suggests a re-sealing ceremony to celebrate the new change in their life, but Barb isn't so sure about the idea. Margene battles with doubts in her mind about her latest business venture, Goji, especially when it causes problems in Pam's marriage. Alby's latest plan for revenge affects Home Plus and Heather tells a secret that puts the whole Henrickson family in jeopardy.
With the police now knowing that Margene was 16 when she and Bill got together, they form a full investigation which puts the family on edge. Margie discovers Cara Lynn's affair with her tutor, Mr Ivey while Barb could potentially be imprisoned for her involvement in the statutory rape case against Bill. Nicki's life is threatened when she faces off against Alby.
As Bill may be imprisoned soon, Barb tries to think practically about financial and family worries that will occur. Alby is on the loose, and dangerous as ever which puts the whole Henrickson family under pressure. Nicki takes drastic measures in order to prevent Cara Lynn from seeing Mr Ivey. Lois' condition worsens while Margene leaves Goji behind her and tries to bring the whole family together in their time of need.
In the last ever episode of 'Big Love' - the Henrickson face even more problems when they lose Henrickson Home Plus and Bill makes a decision whether to call it quits on his marriage with Barb. Margie wants to do more with her life and contemplates a cruise to help abroad. Nicki struggles more than ever when Cara Lynn is hostile towards her and the aching feeling of loneliness grows while Barb prepares to be baptised to another church. A dramatic conclusion to the beloved series.
