Christopher Smith director | previously directed Triangle |
Set in 14th century England which is rife with bubonic plague, reports are of a village that is immune to the pestilence. Lead by Ulric, a holy knight and his band of followers, Osmund a young monk must travel to the village where there are reports of dark magic.
To bolster the more grounded vision he had for the story, Smith also made the decision to shoot some of the film in a style reminiscent of old war footage, as if an embedded journalist were there with a camera capturing the action up-close. It's an approach he utilized in hopes of enhancing the movie's visceral impact, eliminating the more objective distance trafficked in by many historical and/or fantasy adventure films.

Black Death Trailer
Before it was a heavy metal thing, the black death referred to the plague that killed tons of Europeans during the 1300s. Only Sean Bean could stop it--at least that's my takeaway from this trailer for the movie, Black Death. |
