The Hunger Games return with such a sequel twist that you can't believe writer Suzanne Collins didn't think of film when writing. Catching Fire builds up with all types of subversive messaging which is interesting but also brings into relief the limitations of the genre and film.

Wirth touches the runestone
to provide lodgings for Professor Richard Wirth, in return for payment. Tempted by the money they accept the offer, unaware that the professor is interested in an
ancient viking runestone located on their property. While staying with the Wollners, Wirth conducts experiments with the runestone, using it to revive the dead. This includes using blood from the families youngest daughter, Liese.
Victor is alive
n 2007, After a camping trip two years earlier with his brother, Evan has been left picking up the pieces due to his older brother Victor's disappearance. Their father holds great resentment towards Evan and blames him for the loss of Victor. This all changes when Victor turns up on Evans doorstep asking him to help seek revenge on those who have been holding him captive. The brothers pack up rifles and set off on a boat to the Wollner farm.
Wirth, making the final transformation
The brothers storm onto the farm shooting the older brother and ignoring the families warnings about Wirth. They find another man who was being held captive and free him. But Wirth escapes from a cellar where the family had being holding him captive and begins to slaughter horses and return them to life. The brothers flee into the families house, which is protected by ancient runes Liese has drawn to stop Wirth from entering. They explain to the brothers that the only way they managed to keep Wirth captive was to hold prisoners and use their blood to feed Wirth. But if he manages to feed enough during the blood moon he will make his final transformation and gain a third eye.
Still not completely convinced, both brothers soon change their mind when witnessing Wirth bring the brother and father of the family back
Evan tricks Wirth
to life as mindless slaves. The family explains that using black magic Wirth has managed to give them eternal life, as he needs them to survive. After managing to locate the Wirth family bones, Evan grinds and rubs them into his flesh. Offering himself to Wirth, Evan poisons him with his own family blood. This leads to the remaining Wollners turning old rapidly and dying. Liese reveals to Evan, as she lays dying that eight other Nazi's were sent to farms around America. He discovers a map that shows the location of the other farms and sets out to destroy any other Nazis left out there. His brother Victor, finally gets to return to his family.
