Liquid that flows through living humans and animals. It is often spilled in action and horror films. It is usually only shown being spilled in R rated movies, since in lower ratings it is considered too violent.
Blood is the fluid inside living humans and animals. It is the source of life as it carries oxygen throughout the body system. Blood is usually red in color. In movies, bloodshed is usually only depicted in R rated movies because most ratings boards find bloodshed inappropriate for young people to see. Bloodless violence, however, is usually allowed in movies below the R rating. Horror movies are the most notorious for being really bloody, since a staple of most horror movies is showing people getting murdered in extremely graphic ways. It is rare that horror movies are bloodless. Modern action movies also sometimes contain a lot of blood, such as Machete and Pulp Fiction. In the past few years movies like Saw have shown the most graphic depictions of death possible with tons of blood and gore, with death being their focus.
