A time traveling young boy from the future arrives in the present claiming to be Barry Allen's grandson. Meanwhile Cheshire and clone Red Arrow begin their search for the missing Roy Harper...
Somewhere in a desolate area a young boy is working on some sort of machine. An older man nearby states that he wishes he could come along, but the boy tells him that this machine only seats one...
Nightwing is going through the Krolotean intel that Miss Martian and Martian Manhunter gathered at Melina Island. He discovers that the Krolotean were searching for humans with the Metagene. Suddenly the computer alerts him along with Robin and Beast Boy about an unknown energy impulse. Suddenly right before their eyes a machine appears before them and a young boy emerges from it. He has powers similar to Kid Flash and the Flash and appears to know everyone's names and identity. As he runs amok the base, the team tries to subdue him. While Beast Boy and Robin fail to do so, Nightwing is successful.
Clone Red Arrow and Cheshire arrive at some sort of temple monastery. Clone Red Arrow is in disbelief that the real Roy Harper is here saying that the good guys have been searching for the real Roy Harper for years and yet they are able to find him so easily. Cheshire tells him that she goes where the good guys do not and thus have access to more information than they could have. She then tells him to stop calling the real Roy Harper the real one because she and her daughter both need him to be the real one.
Back at Mount Justice, the young boy claims that his name is Bart Allen and that he is a tourist from the future and the grandson of Barry Allen (The Flash). While the team try to make sense of what's going on, Bart manages to escape. Nightwing was able to get a tracker inside of Bart by offering him water which contained subcutaneous micro trackers, and he uses that to track him. The team finds out that he is making his way to Central City.
Barry Allan and Iris West welcomes Jay Garrick and Joan into their homes and wishes them a Happy Anniversary. Barry receives a phone call from Nightwing alerting him of the young speedster's arrival to Central City, just then Bart bursts in and introduces himself as Barry's grandson. Everyone is stunned by his presence, but Barry exclaims that he can't be his grandson because he and Iris don't even have kids. Iris then admits that she is currently pregnant, much to everyone's amazement. Wally arrives and tells Bart not to reveal anymore future secrets or it might disrupt the timeline. Iris gets a phone call from her boss, but Bart tells her not to answer it though she does. Iris tells Barry that there is a new villain calling out for the blood of the Flash. Barry transform into the Flash, but Bart tells him to let the League handle the distress call instead. He dismisses Bart and dashes off with Bart following him behind.
Flash arrives at the scene and is at standoff with the villain Neutron. Flash gets hit by one of Neutron's wave but his blow is cushioned by Bart. Elsewhere nearby, two silhouette figures watches the destruction via monitor and they say that the test subject Neutron is under their complete control (in alien language).
Back in Tibet, Cheshire and clone Red Arrow sneak into the monastery. They successfully navigate through the area unnoticed until Lian makes a giggle which echos throughout the temple. The three of them are then surrounded by guards, with clone Red Arrow telling Cheshire they should've left Lian in the care of her sister.
Kid Flash arrives at the crime site and warns the officer to evacuate the surrounding area. He is then joined by Flash and Impulse and they devise a plan to neutralize Neutron. They decide to create a massive whirlwind by speeding around Neutron, which causes him to go into critical mode. A mass explosion occurs and the group of speedsters outrun the explosion. Bart is determined to go back to investigate the body, but the others question why. The silhouettes watches as they lose control over Neutron and they decide to abandon their task. Wally determines that Neutron is becoming more unstable now than he was before through his infrared goggles. Barry tells the two to wait while he grabs Neutron and rushes him to a desert to minimize any collateral damage. Bart determined to prevent Barry from going chases after him, and both of them seemingly trips and crashes before they could make it to Neutron. Neutron overloads and detonates, but Kid Flash along with Jay Garrick manage to save both Barry and Bart. As they all regroup, Bart slips past them and rushes back to Neutron where he tosses some sort of device at Neutron neutralizing his abilities. The other speedster join him and question what happened, but Bart simply replies that Neutron must've ran out of juice.
At the monastery, Cheshire and Red Arrow dispose of all the guards and makes their way to a door that the guards did not want them near. Inside the find the pod with the body of the real Roy Harper inside. Clone Red Arrow releases the pod and Roy Harper falls into his arms.
At Mount Justice, Nightwing tells everyone that Impulse's DNA matches both of those of Barry and Iris confirming his identity of their grandson. Bart then tells everyone that it is time for him to go back to the future and he says his goodbyes. As he enters his time machine, it is clear that it is no longer functional. He exits the craft and exclaims that he is trapped in the past...
We find out that the scene at the beginning of the episode was of Bart and Neutron in the future. It is also revealed that Bart knew that the time machine was a one way trip and that there was no way of getting back if he wanted. Bart tells Neutron that this is a future he does not want to return to and he is willing to take that one way trip. The time and location is revealed to be:
Neutron instructs Bart that he must save the Flash's life and neutralize his powers in the past. Bart then takes off.
Neutron realizes that the plan has succeeded in the past because his appearance changed, but their plan was not a complete success because the land is still desolate and bare...
