Not a bad premiere. Breaking Bad is best at setting up huge moments and I feel like this episode is just trying to bring all the loose ends together.

Mike coming back was weird since he seemed content with just not killing Walt, nor did any of Gus' old minions.

What did everybody else think?

The entire episode was well-handled. Glad I enjoyed it. :)

Anybody else think Walt is becoming unlikable? I mean, he did some pretty reprehensible things last season but I was still rooting for him. I know this is only the first episode but it seems he has no conscience anymore and it seems he's becoming the villain in the show.

I'm really glad Mike is back and their dispute was handled quickly, cause I really didn't want to see Mike against Walt and Jesse.

@TopSteer: I think he's always been a bit unlikable. Cooking meth isn't exactly a nice guy thing to do. It's been interesting to see the man fall further and further.

Thought it was a very strong opening. Rarely do we see episodes of serialized dramas with clear cut beginnings, middles, and ends. While the main story still needs closure, we saw Walt/Jesse/Mike identify a problem, come up with a plan, and execute that plan fully. Also, Walt, Mike, and Jesse is a great combination, hope we see more of that.

Also, WHAT THE HELL WAS UP WITH THAT OPENING. Walt looks like Gary Whitta. And he's got an M60. And he's got a new identity. But he's still eating at Denny's.

Come on Jessie, it's time to make magnets

Man, this episode was intense. I'm really excited about this new partnership.

I'm convinced now that Walt's downfall will be caused by Skyler somehow.

Edit: And Mike is an amazing badass, really glad he's back.

Oh that scene where Jesse is breaking down over the cigarette being in the robot, oh man... Then Walt goes over to console him, he's such a bastard.

Also, here's a treat, Aaron Paul on The Price is Right. Yes it's amazing. And no, he's doesn't say "One dollar, bitch!"

Very good episode. I'm excited to see more of Mike, Jesse, and Walt together. My one minor issue is Skyler. I liked her a lot in season 4 and she doesn't seem to have much to do now.

@ThePickle: I've kinda always disliked Skylar. She never seems to understand her own motives and yells at Walt when he does something with the same motives.

I thought this episode was slow (beginning of the season so of course) but it was nice to see Mike explored more as a character.

She's in a tough spot. She was living a normal life until she found out her husband is a meth cook. Pretty tough pill to swallow, no?

@ThePickle: Totally true, she's been in some tough spots. I just never liked her after season 2 and she hasn't done much to recover from that imo.

I prefered Episode 2 to 1. I have no idea where this is gonna go besides it ending badly for Walt. Also thumbs up for having Walt.Jr at the breakfast table!

I love how Walt went from clueless meth cook to evil criminal mastermind in the span of five seasons.

This week's episode featured Walt, Mike, and Jessie finally setting up a whole new way to start cooking and tension between Walt and everybody seems to be rising.

I thought the episode was weak but had it's nice moments. Walt's threat (?) to Jessie at the end was cold blooded. But I feel like Walt doesn't realize how over confident he is. I think someone, Mike mainly, will have to put him in his place.

Another great example of Breaking Bad telling a great somewhat self contained story. Even detached from the overarching story, this worked as a heist. And holy fuck was that a cliffhanger.
