Man, what a great episode. I love heist stuff and this was pretty intense. The very end was jaw dropping too, especially since I totally forgot about that kid.

Dunno if it's been discussed before, but my brother brought up the theory that...

Walt is going to kill Skylar with the ricin to keep the kids around. He's definitely crazy enough at this point. Notice how much she's smoking?

...and I totally thought "Oh shit! You're right!". Sometimes it feels like I've been spoiled even though it hasn't happened. Same shit happened to me with Harry Potter, back when the last book had yet to come out, so I hope that it isn't the case even though that'd be one hell of a development.

He kept the ricin. I've never thought about ricin in one of Skyler cigarettes but that seems very likely. Seriously, how long does Skyler expect the kids to be able to stay at the Schrader's and not arouse suspicion?

I finally caught up!

I thought the last episode was fine but nothing has made me drop my jaw yet.

The early episodes of a Breaking Bad season are always slower compared to the big finales. Does make me wonder where it will all go and blow up.

Something silly but made me laugh.

Some assorted thoughts I posted on GB. Figured I'd give the two people who still visit this site something to read:

  • Jesse should consider a career in stand up comedy. "I mean, like what's the deal with these frozen meals? Am I right?"
  • The Marie/Skyler scene was some of the best tension in the season. I seriously thought Skyler was just going to spill the beans. I was anticipating the coming moral conundrum for Marie; does she sell out her brother-in-law or keep her husband in the dark?
  • I loved how Walt just MacGyver'd his way out of bondage.
  • Saul Goodman needs his own spinoff.

@ThePickle: Apparently Vince Gilligan has pondered the idea of a Saul Goodman spin-off. But I'm not sure I'd want an entire show dedicated to him. Too much of a good thing? Perhaps they could do a web series in between these seasons, that'd be brilliant.

There is no such thing as too much Bob Odenkirk.

Episode 8: Gliding Over All

Thought it was somewhat anticlimactic until the end. That ending, holy shit* that ending. That's got to be one of the smartest pieces of storytelling I've seen on TV. Not since the "everything looks better in slow-motion" sketch from Chapelle's Show has someone taking a dump been used to such great effect on television.

*Pun intended.

For a show that does so many brilliant things in so many brilliant ways, Hank finding the book was probably the most unsatisfactory scene the show has done. Bad way to end a season which has been the best one yet. I thought the rest of episode was great, just not the ending.

Kudos to the writers for making a conversation between Walt and Jesse the most nerve-wracking thing I've seen on TV.

I love how Breaking Bad just turned into Oz for a montage.
