It has been a couple of weeks since the season finale, but I just had a chance to watch it this week and I have to say that I am quite happy with the direction that the writers are taking the show.  This season really focused on the compromises that a lot of the characters took morally.  Walt still may not be the best protagonist, but I was genuinely interested in the dynamic that the shows creators created between him and his boss.  Ultimately the ending was a great cliffhanger, continuing the tradition of giving the audience some great material to chew on in the off-season.

The one thing that I will mention though, is that it feels like they are going to have to take some type of twist or turn in the plot in the next season or it is possible that the whole concept will become a bit stale.  I am not sure how much longer they are going to be able to build up the tension between the characters without getting some resolution.  This is something that I think they did masterfully in Mad Men, as the end of the third season really took the series in a whole new direction without jeopardizing the characters that th audience has become so attached to.

@TheFaithfullyDeparted: I can understand people not being a fan of the show, but you are right.  Try out Sons of Anarchy if you have not seen it yet for a bit of the same thing.  It is supposed to be a modern day representation of Shakespeare's Hamlet.

This show literally rekindled my hopes and dreams for Television. This season was super dark, aside from a couple episodes being rather slow after some of the ultra-high suspense I consider it to really rival Six Feet Under in my book for favourite TV drama. I loved SFU but Breaking Bad has been so consistently well-written, the characters so deep and organic it's impossible to ignore. You look at how any character reacts to their situation and you can sympathize with the route they take, no matter what it is. Even with characters I've despised (Skylar), I understood her position and simultaneously sympathized and hated her. That's some amazing writing right there.

Vince Gilligan says they have Season 4 written out, of any television writer I trust him to end it when it makes sense for the characters so they can have this shining trophy of a series that has set the bar inordinately high.

I've always liked Bryan Cranston even if I wasn't big on MitM, it's great to see him really break out and show everyone what an amazing dramatic actor he can be.

@TheFaithfullyDeparted: Sons of Anarchy is simply amazing.  The first episode was a bit slow, but this is true of many series as it is having to set up a lot of the characters.  The acting is top notch, and Katey Sagal (wife of Ted Bundy in Married With Children)  is at the top of her game.  She plays a very powerful character, and is the backbone for Ron Perlman, and that is saying a lot.  From what I have heard, the second season is even better than the first, and that is a hard accomplishment to attain.  Do yourself a favor and watch the show as soon as possible,  You will not be disappointed.

@Turbo_Toaster:
Ditto on Six Feet Under.  Alan Ball became one of my favorite writers/directors with this show, and I have loved his new show True Blood.  It is truly epic, and this is coming from someone that is from the New Orleans area.  I would not go as far to say as it being better than SFU, but it comes close.  Season 5 of SFU was the one season that did drag on for a bit, but the conclusion to that show was wonderful.  It definitely rates as one of the best endings to a TV series that I can remember.

It is good to see that Vince Gilligan has Season 4 plotted out already.  That is something that show has not lacked though.  There has always been a drive and a purpose to the show.  This season was probably my favorite, but that is because Walt's character really came into his own this season.  I will say I am hoping that the relationship between him and  Pinkman gets resolved.  It seems like they take one step forward and then two steps back with them, and it is something that has to come to a head.  I wish that Walt would stop patronizing him, as the friendship between them works so well in so many of the episodes.

I was expecting to sit back and relax, and enjoy a nice conclusion, but GAH that did not happen.  Now I really need to see Season 4.  Also, the characters on this show are really great.

I can almost see Gus and Mike's lives  foreshadowing Walt and Hank's.

My favorite show on TV now. Season 3 was excellent and I loved the abrupt ending for it. Aaron Paul better get the Emmy, he really did a great job.
