Oh you magnificent bastard...
Oh you magnificent bastard...

This weekend we find ourselves saying goodbye for another half a year or so to easily the best show on television right now. Breaking Bad has its season finale this Sunday, despite offering up two previous episodes that easily could have been a finale unto themselves. What the hell are these writers going to do to top the crazy ending from two weeks ago, or the insanely tense stand-off between Walt and Gus last week? Dunno, but I can't wait to find out!

Apart from a fairly dominating schedule of sporting events--the usual footballings, coupled with the beginning of the NHL season and the MLB playoffs--we have a number of new episodes of decent television programs, as well as a couple of TV movies guarantees to leave you slack-jawed by description alone.

What to Watch This Weekend: October 7, 2011

Fringe

Friday at 9PM - FOX - Two bullies end up dead, but their rapid rate of decomposition leads the gang to think something strange is amiss. Really? On this show? Something strange? Nooooo...

Supernatural

Friday at 9PM - CW - The dudes hunt a demon who is eating people's brains. Finally, an episode of Supernatural that sounds like something I might watch.

Sanctuary

Friday at 10PM - SyFy - Season Premiere. Yes, we somehow have a fourth season of this ridiculous show, despite the fact that it's kind of awful, and boasts production values that make Torchwood look like a Spielberg production. Who are you people that are watching this?

Terror Beneath

Saturday at 9PM - SyFy - A giant, mutated root system is destroying the world, or something, in this SyFy original movie. Not even kidding. A mutated root system. Killer roots. This is happening.

Breaking Bad

Sunday at 10PM - AMC - What more do I even need to say here? I already know you're watching this, so watch it!

The Making of South Park: Six Days to Air

Sunday at 10PM - Comedy Central - If you've ever wondered what the creative process is for an episode of South Park, this hour-long doc ought to do the trick.

Boardwalk Empire

Sunday at 9PM - HBO - Alcohol delivery delays! Loneliness! Politics! Depression! All this and more, on another exciting episode of Boardwalk Empire!

Dexter

Sunday at 9PM - Showtime - A man of the cloth with a former criminal background is called in to help the cops on a case, but Dexter suspects he's not quite what he seems to be. That, of course, means he's a serial killer. Stupid revolving premise! Spoils it every time!

Homeland

Sunday at 10PM - Showtime - Okay, so who watched this and/or liked it? Dying to know if this show is something that actually warrants a serialized format.

Pan Am

Sunday at 10PM - ABC - The ladies fly to Berlin, and of course have to smuggle a poor woman out of East Germany. Wait, what? What's all this now? Where are the free-wheeling sexy times I was promised?!?

Keeping Up With the Kardashians

Sunday at 10PM - E! - I know, I know, but I just had to include this episode description. "Kim announces she wants to be married right away, which forces her mom to move up her scheduled plastic surgery." If that description doesn't completely sum up everything about this show's inherent shittiness, I don't know what would.

Betrayed at 17

Sunday at 8PM - Lifetime - A young girl's life is ruined when she's caught on tape having sex with her high school boyfriend! Now mom is out for revenge! Oh Lifetime, you are just the best.

I enjoyed Homeland. With its setup it feels much more like the kind of thing that would benefit a self-contained 10 or 12-episode miniseries. I have no idea if it's intended to go longer. Certainly worth checking out.

Breaking Bad is going to be excellent. I can feel it.

Man Falcon is gonna be pissed when he reads what Alex said about Sanctuary :D

Honestly I only watch it because of Amanda Tapping and it's generally cool storylines, though I admit that it's not exactly high budget, well it wouldn't exist otherwise, that's how it made 4 seasons. Oh I forgot to mention that Stargate SG-1 was my favorite show and she was on it that's why

So I'll be watching that along with Breaking Bad, Boardwalk, Supernatural and Fringe. Busy TV weekend, love it

So, wait... is Breaking Bad worth watching?

I kind of want to go into a coma after Breaking Bad ends and wake up for the final season because the wait is going to kill me.

And I liked Homeland a lot, it seems like it could get really crazy which is something I'm looking forward to but it makes me miss Rubicon even more than I did before.

@HyBound: I just started it last night and the Pilot had me hooked.

Breaking Bad is very good and worth watching. The first season of it was slow but by the end of it your hooked.

I'm surprised to see a new season of Sanctuary I had heard that it was cancelled by SyFy, last season was rather confusing. Glad it's back.

Considering, I'll be knee-deep in turkey and pumpkin pie, I probably won't be watching a lot of TV this weekend, but uh... go Jets!

Wow Sunday is stacked and I still haven't watched last weeks Breaking Bad. I hope Fringe brings Peter back because I like him a lot more than Lincoln.

Terror Beneath? I guess someone has to get to the root of the problem....ignore that. SyFy is always bringing out some of the worst movies out there. Why I am I not surprised they would come up with something like this.

I'm with Venatio in that the only reason I watch the Sanctuary is because of Amanda, although it is a bit of fun to watch. Sam Carter is still one of my favorite character on Stargate and the only reason I watched it through seasons 9 and 10 when it turned into Starscape SG-1 after O'Neill left the team.

I will have to sit down and figure out someway to get a hold of Breaking Bad, it still feels like a really strange concept and isn't my usual thing. I didn't even know about Homeland, but since it has that guy from Band of Brothers I may have to give it a chance.

Of course, since this week my Redskin are playing my Cowboys I have to say....go Redskins!!

Playoff baseball and smoked turkey legs for me.

You guys should really try out "American Horror Story"...it's a "Welcome to Weird" in the making...

The first episode of Homeland was really good. Damian Lewis is such a good actor and Claire Danes does a great obsessed. And to help push people on the edge over it, Morena Baccarin naked.

I agree that Homeland was quite interesting. I'm definitely curious as to how the story will unfold!

You should definitely check out Homeland, Alex. Easily one of the best new shows this season.

Dexter, Homeland, and Breaking Bad for me. I still need to finish up the first season of Boardwalk Empire. Oh, and the Phillies vs Cardinals tonight. Go Phillies!

Giancarlo Esposito deserves a fucking emmy for this season.

I'm hopefully watching Roy Halladay finish off the Cards tonight, otherwise it's going to be a miserable October for me. Go Phils!

Breaking Bad, why must you leave me?!
