Bugs Bunny is a cartoon character who's first appearance is controversial. Prior to Tex Avery's 1940 A Wild Hare (Which is considered the first official Bugs Bunny Cartoon) there had four cartoons prior that featured a similiar looking rabbit. This also leads his creator up for talks.
