So, I know it's only been four episodes, but what are you're impressions of Camelot so far?
There are parts about the show that I really like. I like that the show is taking the normal King Arthur storyline and is mixing it up a bit. The origin of Excalibur as is told in episode four was really well done. I think Joseph Fiennes does a great job as Merlin and, for the most part, Eva Green is really good as Morgan.
I have a hard time seeing Jamie Campbell Bower as King Arthur. I know he's supposed to be a young version of Arthur but, presumably, he is supposed to be the king to unite all England at some point. The actor doesn't necessarily have the look or the voice to match that stature. On top of that, I think the writers have done a poor job writing him as character. Arthur is, at this point, really unlikeable. He's whiny, wimpy and has an insatiable sense of entitlement over his role and Guinevere.
This may be unfair due to their budget but the action scenes and a lot of the special effects look low-budget. Usually this doesn't bother me but there are times when the lack of money or skill or whatever it is that is at fault for the bad looking action scenes and special effects really jar me.
Overall I think it is still worth watching but they need to improve Arthur as a character. He needs to act like a King and not just give speeches about being a King as if he were a Miss USA contestant.
