Race car Lightning McQueen gets derailed on a cross-country trip to California and finds himself stuck in Radiator Springs, a sleepy town on Route 66 that was essentially forgotten with the advent of the interstate system.

Cars was the seventh film produced by Pixar and Disney, and the final film before Pixar was bought by Disney. The film was directed by John Lasseter and Joe Ranft, this was the first film to be directed by Joe Ranft, though he had previously worked on many Pixar films.
