Further proving he will do whatever he damn well pleases, Werner Herzog made a documentary about ancient cave paintings...in 3D!

Finally, the subject matter that ached the most for 3D representation: flat illustrations on flat surfaces.

If someone is to try to prove that 3d films arent just a gimmick Werner Herzog should be the one , if nothing can be made of it then it means that 3D wasnt really anything , also a new Herzog movie is always welcomed in my books :)

To think that's there's an entire generation of moviegoers that hear Werner Herzog and their first response is DOCUMENTARY....this is really weird.

I wonder who would win in a battle between James Franco and Herzog as crazy workaholics.
(don't punch me for saying workaholic)

This strikes me as the best use of 3D, to give viewers a sense of being inside a place that most will not see because the cave is off limits to visitors. Really excited for this one.

Couldn't agree more IronRinn .

Good stab at a troll first comment though babylonian. To bad the last thing that a cave and it's 20,000 year old cave drawings are is 2 dimensional.      I have zero desire to watch a converted bubble face piece of junk superhero movie in 3D.  But this, a shot in 3D movie set in a deep dark enclosed environment, where it seems the only intention is to simply "show".   I think this could really work.   Plus I highly doubt we will see any of the typical dumb 3D tricks.    Just a simple window into a world you may never see.

I'm there dude. Caves are fascinating to me no matter whats going on, and I can't wait to see it from his perspective.

What's the deal with that same cheesey flashlight-esque lens flare on all the text, especially one right after the other at the end.
