Captain Charisma is a WWE Superstar known for his participation in Ladder Matches.

Overview

Christian made his World Wrestling Entertainment debut on September 27, 1998 at Breakdown: In Your House, distracting his brother Edge and costing him a match. He was revealed as a member of The Brood with Gangrel and soon got Edge to join their group.

The Brood was later abducted and joined The Undertaker and The Ministry of Darkness. In May 1999, they left the Ministry after The Undertaker tried to punish Christian for revealing the location of an abducted Stephanie McMahon and Edge & Gangrel saved him.

Later that year, Edge and Christian were betrayed by Gangrel as he formed The New Brood with The Hardy Boyz. This feud would lead up to a Triangle Ladder Match at WrestleMania 2000 including Dudley Boyz. Edge and Christian won the match, which would become the match that led to the creation of the TLC (Tables, Ladders, and Chairs) Match.

Edge and Christian transitioned their characters from being goth to comedic characters. They would do a "five second pose" in the ring "for the benefit of those with flash photography" and would successfully capture the WWE Tag Team Championship on several occasions.

In 2001, Edge started moving into singles competition when he won the King of the Ring tournament, leading to a jealous Christian turning on him.  They would feud over Edge's Intercontinental Championship.

In 2003, Christian and Chris Jericho started romances with Trish Stratus and Lita. It was later revealed to be a bet between the two men on who could sleep with their Diva first, with the wager being a Canadian dollar. Afterwards Jericho continued his relationship with Stratus, but at WrestleMania XX when he faced Christian she cost him the match and joined with Christian.

In October 2004 he took on the title "Captain Charisma", becoming more cocky and overconfident. He hired Tyson Tomko as his "problem solver", interfering in his matches to help him win. A year later he departed from the company.

On February 10, 2009 he returned to the WWE as a member of the ECW brand and defeated the current ECW Champion Jack Swagger in a non-title match. It wasn't until Backlash in April that he found win the championship from Swagger. He would later lose the championship to Tommy Dreamer at Extreme Rules in a Triple Threat Match.

In February 2010 he re-signed to the RAW brand, but in the 2010 WWE Draft was moved to SmackDown. In September he suffered an injury at the hands of Alberto Del Rio which sidelined him for months.

In February 2011 at the Elimination Chamber event, he made his return and attacked Del Rio, saving his friend Edge from an attack. He would team with Edge to battle Del Rio until Edge was forced to retire in April from injuries he had sustained during his career. He would replace Edge in a Ladder Match again Del Rio at Extreme Rules for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship and won, winning his first world championship in the WWE. However, he would lose it five days later on SmackDown to a newly-drafted Randy Orton.
