Named after the infamous character in Happy Days, Chuck Cunningham Syndrome is when a regular character in a TV show, often a main character's sibling, mysteriously disappears without explanation and are never mentioned again.
Happy Days
Chuck Cunningham was Richie and Joanie's older brother. A college student and a basketball player, he appeared in a few episodes of the first season, before being completely removed in Season 2 without explanation. His existence is even denied by his own father, Howard, who in a later episode proclaims: "I have a lovely daughter (Joanie) and a loudmouth son (Richie)".
