The film was shot in Cinéma vérité style, several cameras were given to various members of the Stones' inner-circle to film whatever they wanted.
The Rolling Stones strongly disliked how they were portrayed in the final film, so they issued a court order saying the film can only be screened once a year and if Robert Frank, the film's director is also present at the screening.
The film's content and title lead the film never to be released offically, another film "Ladies and Gentleman: The Rolling Stones" was filmed and released instead.
