Do I pull the green wire or the red one? Maybe the blue one. Every bomb maker, regardless of skill level, will make their devices with multi-colored wiring to aid in diffusal. When will they learn to just make them all red?

Overview


A common cliche in action films featuring a bomb in need of diffusing.  The villain uses multiple colors of wire in constructing the bomb as though there is an unwritten design requirement that certain wires must be specific colors.  In the most absurd cases, when the protagonist attempts to diffuse the bomb, he may call a more knowledgeable person for assistance only to describe the colors of the wires, ignoring the components to which the wires are linked.  Yet the expert doesn't bat an eye at the lack of crucial information and tells the protagonist which wire to cut.
