Comic Book Movie Fatigue

We're about three quarters the way through summer movie season and on the cusp of Comic Con this weekend along with the opening of Captain America: The First Avenger, I thought to myself and realized I am worn out. Perhaps it's just this summer that has been the worst (Thor, Priest, X-Men:First Class, Green Lantern, Captain America, Cowboys & Aliens) but I'm just looking at all these established comic book franchises having their silver screen debut and I just don't care. Marvel is doing something crazy ambitious with The Avengers, but having a fraction of screen time devoted to it is becoming tiresome. It is partial set up and advertising for The Avengers. And just looking ahead into the future, it doesn't seem to be letting up.

So I want to hear what you guys think on this topic. Are you guys feeling fatigued? Or are you still gun-ho?

While I think Marvel should slow down some, I still do want to see some more movies from them like Doctor Strange and Ant-Man are two I am looking forward to. As for DC I really wish they could stop making movies because they really haven't put out anything good since Batman Begins though Man of Steel is showing some promise but I'll wait for a trailer to make a final decision.

It's kind of unfair to say you're tired of comic book movies. It's kind of like saying "I wish they would slow down making movies based on novels".

I'm "gung-ho". While I understand how it's cool to rip on Hollywood's lack of originality, some of my favorite films this year have been based on literary and comic sources (Xmen and Thor).

It's a lot like the Western fatigue of the 50s and 60s. I can't help but feel the genre is so played out that it'll be dead and gone in a handful of years.

We need more comic book movies like Road to Perdition, Ghost World, and A History of Violence and less superhero shit.  I would love movies based on Scalped, Y: The Last Man, or Transmetropolitan.
I am kind of getting sick of super hero movies.
