Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid (1982)

Edit this Page
Carl Reiner director previously directed The Jerk

Film noir parody that uses scenes from 30's and 40's era film noir movies intercut with new scenes. The cutting is done in such a way that Steve Martin appears to be holding a conversation with the characters in the older movies.

Trivia:

Steve Martin makes a reference in his scene "with" Charles Laughton to The Hunchback of Norte Dome. Charles Laughton was in a version of The Hunchback of Norte Dome.

Quote: Cary Grant

You don't smoke, do you?

Rigby Reardon

No, I have tuberculosis.

Cary Grant

Oh, thank heaven for that.
