A group of medical students decide to spend Easter vacation in a secluded cabin amongst the snowy mountains of Norway. After a late night visit from a mysterious stranger, they soon find themselves confronting an unspeakable horror; Nazi Zombies.

When getting ready to ride the snowmobile and fashioning a torch, the camera work mimics the drug taking sequences of Requiem for a Dream.

Plot Summary

Dead Snow begins in the mountains in the dark. Sara is being chased by the Nazi zombies through the woods. She eventually falls down a hill and breaks her leg on a rock. She slams into a tree and the zombies catch up. Her screams echo out while she is munched upon. 
 
The scene shifts over to Roy, Martin, Vegard, and Erlend driving towards their Easter destination. In another car is Liv, Chris, and Hanna driving as well and discussing who gets which guy. They meet up to go to the cabin. Vegard heads off first on a snow mobile while the others follow his tracks. When everyone reaches the cabin they have some fun with the snow mobile dragging an inner tube. They relax inside until The Wanderer makes himself known. He asks for some coffee and proceeds to tell these vacationers about Nazis that killed and plundered around there. The majority were mobbed except for one group that escaped into the mountains. The story ends and Roy makes light of it. Wanderer slams Roy against the wall. He asks Roy what he would do if he were gutted or lost both his limbs. He lets go of Roy, thanks them for the coffee, and leaves. Later Vegard has a dream about his girlfriend Sara dying in front of him. 
 
Meanwhile the Wanderer has an encounter with the zombies elsewhere in the mountains. He hears some noises from his tent and exits his tent. He is armed with a rifle and a flashlight. Outside he doesn't see anything except that one of his poles is no longer in the snow. He fixes it then he gets his throat slit. The Wanderer clambers back into the tent so the zombie rushes in tearing him up. 
 
 The next morning Vegard leaves on his snow mobile to look for Sara. He finds what's left of the Wanderer and follows the footsteps left behind. At the top of a hill he falls into a hole.
 
 
Everybody else is partying in the cabin. At one point Erlend is grabbing drinks and accidentally finds a box of gold. They play around with it a little, some coins are pocketed until Martin convinces the group to wait to find out who owns the gold. Erlend declares he has to take a dump so he goes to the outhouse. He drops a gold coin before enterting. Chris follows him a few minutes after so they commence some outhouse sex. A zombie finds the gold piece. Erlend goes back inside the cabin with a grin on his face while Chris is using the outhouse. She gets interrupted by a Nazi circling the outhouse. Eventually the seat breaks and she falls through. Moments later she climbs out dirty and with a stomach wound. She limps towards the cabin screaming for help. The zombie gets her right before Hanna opens the door. 
 
Martin, Erlend, and Roy form a search party. Martin becomes equipped with a shotgun that was held over the cabin door. They find nothing and head back inside. Hanna sees Chris's decapitated head and bars the front door. A zombie breaks through the window and grabs Liv's hair. The grip gets broken by Hanna cutting the hair. They fend off the zombies a little until Erlend is attacked through a window. Two of the zombies hold him down and a third grips his head via his eyes until his head splits open. 
 
Vegard wakes up in the hole. He makes his way out and makes a torch from equipment on the snowmobile. He explores the hole finding it's a cavern with guns, Nazi helmets, and Sara's head. A zombie fights him and punches him out of the cavern. He overtakes Vegard, pinning him to the ground. Vegard survives by biting the zombie, taking the helmet, and bashing the zombie's head with the helmet. Another zombie appears out of the snow chasing Vegard. He ends up throwing a knife into the zombie's head and it falls into a tree eviscerating itself. The first zombie gets back up and ambushes Vegard. They fall off the cliff side holding onto the intestines of the second zombie. The first zombie holding onto Vegard bites his neck so he head butts it until it lets go. He climbs back up then proceeds to stitch his neck with fishing wire. He finishes the stitching with duct taping his entire neck. Afterwords he attaches a machine gun to the snow mobile and drives off. A zombie grabs the back, climbs up while the snow mobile is moving, lines up for a downward stab, and a branch knocks him off.  
 
Martin, Roy, Hanna, and Liv sit huddled in a corner. They decide they should split up. Roy and Martin stay behind to wait for Vegard. They will also be the distraction team. Hanna and Liv run off towards the cars through the woods. Zombies find them and they separate. The Nazis catch up to Liv and open her up while removing her entrails. With the last of her strength she takes a grenade off a zombie and sets it off. Hanna hides in a tree, finds some eggs and attracts the attention of a crow. She beats it to death against the tree but the zombies notice her. One climbs up after her so she drops down on the other one with a branch through it's head. The other zombie chases her to a cliff. She breaks the cliff and they both fall off. 
 
Meanwhile Roy and Martin are holed up inside of the cabin. Roy makes a molotov cocktail and throws it inside of the cabin. Martin makes a 911 call to no avail. They run out to the shed and gear up. Martin takes the chainsaw and Roy equips with a sledgehammer.  
The two of them take on a wave of zombies. A second group appears after the first are dealt with. Vegard drives in and shoots the zombies down. He runs over a zombie while doing a wheelie. He kills two other zombies with the snow mobile's tracks. Eventually the Nazis get the drop on him and 4 stab him simultaneously. They rip him apart like a medieval torture rack.  
 
 Hanna climbs out of the snow. She rests a moment and notices the zombie stuck in the snow. She kicks his face in. Scene changes to Martin and Roy fighting some more zombies. Hanna touches Martin and he immediately hatchets into her neck. He's shocked and holds her while she dies. Roy calls for Martin because another wave is approaching. Martin snaps back and pulls out the shotgun. He shoots 5 zombies each with a single shot. He's out of ammo for the last one and fights it up close. The zombie bites his arm and Roy kills it. Martin amputates his arm with the chainsaw and cauterizes the stump with a fire on a dead zombie. Relieved that he's no longer infected, another zombie pops out of the snow and bites his junk. He kills it with a little bludgeoning and contemplates another amputation. Roy convinces him not to.  
 
They look at Herzog, the leader of the Nazi zombies, then he summons the rest of his forces. They run away. Roy stumbles on some trees and gets bludgeoned in the head. Somehow he also stabs himself with a tree leaving his intestine stuck to it. Herzog kills him and takes a gold watch. Martin sees this and runs back to the cabin. He searches for the box of gold in the fiery remains of the cabin. The zombies appear and he finds it in time. He backs away from the box and runs away. He runs until he finds a river. Rests a little and makes his way to the car. He gets in, struggles with the seat belt and keys. When a gold coin falls out of his pocket, he picks it up and laments this moment. It ends with Herzog punching through the driver side window.
