You’ve all heard of Deadliest Warrior, right? It’s that Spike show that dramatizes what’re best described as impossible historical death matches. Viking's pitted against samurai, Shaolin monk fights Maori warrior and even the IRA takes on the Taliban... to find who's the deadliest (but NOT ultimate) warrior. I’m a history buff and I’ve got a sick mind, so this is just the perfect show to explore the kind of morbid questions my imagination likes to entertain. Yet, somehow, I’ve just never gotten to check out more than a couple episodes of it. I don’t know, you can’t keep up with everything. Regardless, I’ve always thought it’d make for a hell of a crazy movie. Sort-of like a big screen version of that old school fighting game, World Heroes.
Paramount’s thinking the same thing, and they’re talking to guy who’s currently pulling off another kind of impossible grudge match - - robot vs. robot - - about making this a movie. Deadline’s saying that Shawn Levy might direct a movie version of this once he’s done with that strange "Hugh Jackman as a mecha corner man" movie, Real Steel. He’s down to produce it, at the least. Would any of you be down for this?
