Hey Pam, remember when I said this car was death proof? Well, that wasn't a lie. This car is 100% death proof. Only to get the benefit of it honey, you really need to be sitting in my seat.

Death Proof opens in Austin, Texas with Arlene, Shanna, and local radio DJ "Jungle" Julia Lucai planning a night of bar-hopping and a weekend at Shanna's dad's lake house at Lake LBJ before Arlene leaves town. Outside their first bar stop, Guero's Taco Bar, Arlene catches her first glimpse of Stuntman Mike (a psychopathic, ex-stuntman who murders woman with his car for pleasure) slowly creeping past in his all black, stunt car. Inside, "Jungle" Julia reveals that she has announced earlier on her radio show that Arlene is willing to give a lap dance to the first person who calls her "Butterfly", buys her a beer, and recites a segment of the poem "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening". At their last expected bar stop, Texas Chili Parlor,  the three women meet up with another friend, Lena Frank, who is called to provide weed and accompany them to the lake house. Stuntman Mike reveals himself  to the women, on the porch of the bar, as someone only looking for the lap dance promised from "Butterfly". The night ends with Stuntman Mike getting his lap dance and him and the women going their separate ways. Stuntman Mike then proceeds to follow the women and purposely crashes his car into theirs head to head, killing them on impact.  Surviving the crash, Stuntman Mike is banned from Texas for his ways by Sheriff Earl McGraw.

The movie picks up 14 months later in Lebanon, Tennessee where the stuntman stumbles upon another group of female friends (Abernathy, Kim, and Lee) outside a Circle A convenient store. He follows and takes pictures of the women outside an airport where they pick up a forth, Zoe. Over breakfast, Zoe tells her friends that while in America she plans on driving a white, 1970 Dodge Challenger with a 440 engine and she knows exactly where to find one. The women drive to a farm where the Dodge Challenger is for sale and use Lee as collateral to test drive the car. During the drive it is seen that Stuntman Mike has been watching them the entire time and he sets off to chase them down. When he catches up to the Dodge Challenger the three friends are found playing "Ships Master", a game with one person driving the car and another rolling around on top of the hood. Stuntman Mike then begins bashing into to the car from behind and both sides. The chase ends with both cars spinning off the road and Kim shooting the psychopath once in the right arm. After they shake off the fright of what has recently happened they decide to take revenge on the now wounded and scared stuntman. This second chase finishes with the women flipping the death proof stunt car, beating down the crazed stuntman and Abernathy delivering a final kick to the head, killing Stuntman Mike.
