Go, Matt Rorie, defend Speed Racer, go!

Based on the 60's cartoon, the idiotically-named Speed Racer is a boy with ambitions to become the world's best racecar driver. Speed lives in the shadow of his older brother Rex, who died while racing, and must prove to his family that he won't succumb to the same fate.

Just as long as he never tries to defend those appalling MATRIX sequels. ;-)
Still loved it though. I especially liked the way they handle the twist that EVERY Speed Racer fan knows about before going in (you know the one).
It makes me cry.
I effing love this movie. It's so good. So amazingly good.
Granted, this movie was aimed at kids and from the trailers I saw, didn't seem particularly bad in any way. Then I read the reviews. Whoa.
Not saying I will rent this anytime soon but I will say it looks incredibly colorful.
I understand your defense of this movie; it has a moral to it and that is something that does indeed seem to be lacking nowadays.
Years later one of them bought it on DVD and I finally sat down and gave up a night to experience it.
It was worth it, the film is a delight to watch, fun for kids and more than passable for adults. The race scenes are tense and the acting is pitch perfect for most of the characters.
