Plot Summary

Kent Nelson visits Madame Xanadu trying to contacted his long departed wife. She is not worthy though being exposed for creating the environment around her. He is attacked from behind by Abra Kadabra who teleports him away much to Xanadus surprise and dismay.

The team has been training at Mount Justice. While Superboy and Aqualad spar Miss Martian and Artemis gossip over who would be good with who. Artemis suggests Aqualad for Martian who quickly brushes it off claiming he is like a big brother. Martian counters with Wally being perfect for Artemis which they joke about Wallys love of food. Tobin is off with Batman doing the dynamic duo thing.

Red Tornado soon shows up trying to locate Kent Nelson the current Doctor Fate. Nelson has been missing for nearly a month this could be nothing but the Helmet of Fate, the source of his power should not be left unattended. The team jumps at the possibility of doing something.Wally jumps at the chance to impress Miss Martian. The team is given the key to the tower of faith and sent to investigate.

Wally although professing to be a true beliver of magic and mysticism is not. Wally is a man of science everything can be explained through science. Artemis takes him to task over being so closed minded while Aqualad gives his own experience dealing with magic his tattoos are powered by it. Wally counters with Atlantian bio electricity and not magic.

Kent is being help captive by Abra Kadabra and Klarion who are torturing him for access to the Helmet and Tower of Faith. Kent refuses to budge while the team arrives and Klarions cat alerts them to their presence.

The team enters into the Tower of Faith and are greeted by a projection of Nelson asking why they are there. Wally trying to further impress Martian buts in claiming they are all true believers and simply looking for the Helmet of Fate. The projection dose not by it and drops the team into a pit of lava. Martian grabs Wally and tries to fly him out while Artemis fires a grappling hook grabbing her and Aqualad. Superboy unsuccessfully grabs the side of the whole and barley stops burning and destroying his shoes. Martian and Aqualad can't take the intense heat but Martian remembers that they didn't really answer the question exclaiming that Red Tornado sent it. The lava disappears and they are left to ponder what just happened. Aqualad finds a trap door and they are transported to snowy mountains where they discover Nelsons cane. Wally is still not believing this to be magic. When he and Artemis grab the cane though they are transported to another section of the Temple of Faith coming across Kadabra and Klarion who found there way into the the temple.

Nelson grabs Wally and teleports them to the top of the Tower revealing the helmet. Klarion follows them and starts attacking them with magic. Nelson is able to make a a force field but is struck down by Klarion who with his dying words urges Wally to believe. Reluctantly Wally places the helmet on his head and Doctor Fate takes over Wallys body while Wallys spirit is transported inside the helmet.

While in the Helmet Wallys body being controlled by Doctor Faith battles Klarion. Faith in this host though is weak given Wallys disinterest and disbelief of magic. Klarion is defeated though when his own anchor is damaged by Faith forcing him to retreate from the fight. Faith than easily defeats Kadabra.

I'm dead but still here

Wallys spirit is greeted by the spirit of Nelson who gives him some advice about magic. Nelson also argues with Faith to give up control of Wallys body. Faith dosen't want to give up the body but is eventually persaded to once Nelson brings up Wallys lack of mystic connections. Wally than agrees to find someone new to take care of the helmet and its responsibilities. Before leaving the helmet Nelson urges Wally to find his own spitfire.

Wally places the helmet on his shelf with his other souvenirs from previous missions.
