The D.E.N.N.I.S. System
Dennis has developed a "foolproof" system that he claims will win any girls undying love and devotion for life, named the D.E.N.N.I.S. System.
The D.E.N.N.I.S. System
D - Demonstrate Value
E - Engage Physically
N - Nurturing Dependence
N - Neglect Emotionally
I - Inspire Hope
S - Separate Entirely
The D.E.N.N.I.S. System in Action
Dennis most recently used the system on a pharmacist he was attracted to. He Demonstrated Value by filling a forged prescription for his fake grandmother, demonstrating his value as "a great grandson and all around great guy". Once he has demonstrated value, he asks her out and moves onto the next step. Dennis tries to engage the girls physically without ever going on a date which to him is "really just a waste of time and money". He purposely sets the date for a restaurant that is closed on sundays and tells the girl that they can grab a pizza and watch a movie at his place, where his roommate Mac is waiting to play his role. Mac, who is strategically placed in the living room reading a book, tells Dennis that he can't give them the living room because he found a black widow spider in his room. Dennis then suggest that they watch the movie in his room, where he Engages Physically. Dennis believes that "once you have sex with the woman she will naturally depend on you". He Nurtures Dependence by making the women depend on him, by slashing their tires, getting their car towed, or in the case of the pharmacist creating a fictional angry neighbor that threatens her, after which he steps up to "protect" her. If all the steps have been completed properly the woman will want to take the relationship to the next level, but Dennis chooses to Neglect Emotionally, by stop taking her calls, canceling plans or making the fictional neighbor re-appear and not be there for support. Once that step is complete, the woman begins to question her self worth and self esteem, and this is where Dennis Inspires Hope. He inspired hope with the pharmacist by yelling outside her window, telling her he neglected her because he was scared of getting hurt, but he wasn't scared anymore. Once he has inspired hope, they "bang"; "and this is the best bang of all because its very emotional for her, you see, she thinks she has broken through my tough exterior and coerced affection from a man who is afraid to love". Dennis then "slinks out into the night, never to talk to her again" and Separates Entirely.
