Benedict Cumberbatch has become very busy lately being a master sleuth, a dragon, a spy, a WWI officer, and an enemy of the Federation but there are rumours flying that he be joining Doctor Who as a regenerated version of The Master. Considering Doctor Who's current head writer, Steven Moffat, is also involved in the production of Sherlock, it seems more likely to happen. Cumberbatch fits with the Matt Smith's version of the Doctor as John Simms was a good fit to Tennant's Doctor. I've always felt Moffat's work was tonally different from Davies written material, especially in the first four seasons.
But I'm very curious to see what Cumberbatch is like as a villain, as I've only ever seen him as a good guy. Perhaps he'll be a more dick-ish version of Sherlock? Anyway, I hope this is true. Not to say that Simms was bad as the Master before, he was very good, but Cumberbatch being even zanier version than Simms? That'd be interesting. I just hope the Doctor isn't turned into Gollum and put into a bird cage like last time.
Actually, John Simms was pretty awesome as the Master.
