Doctor Who (Reboot)

All Just a Dream

Turns out that all the events which just transpired in the story were a mere dream. This can be incredibly frustrating for the audience if done poorly.

Cool Guys Don't Look at Explosions

Cool guys keep on walking when something explodes behind them.

Disturbing Villain Eating Scene

I don't know about you but murder gives me the munchies.

Dramatically looking up at the sky

Used when a character in a film has experienced great loss or a fundamental moment of change. The character dramatically looks up to the sky (or God) for an extended period of time, this is done either in a standing position or on the knees usually with arms spread out.

Drug Induced Dream Sequence

Sometime characters like drugs a little more than they should and can occasionally slip into a fantasy realm of their own imagination. These dreams can range from psychedelic wonderlands to nightmarish incarnations of hell.

Good Guys Get Locked Up

The good guys in a movie are locked up for causing trouble and the situation at hand worsens without their involvement.

"...how do you know my name?"

If someone knows more information about you than they should, red flags should be going up everywhere.

Ignoring Orders To "Do The Right Thing"

In which soldiers, police officers, or someone in another kind of strict hierarchical organization is given explicit orders from a superior, only to ignore, disobey, or explicitly rebel against those orders because they believe that following them would be wrong.

It Was All A Dream... No Wait It Wasn't

Typical of "psychological" horror movies, a character wakes up from a particularly terrifying experience and is relieved that it was all "just a dream". Then, suddenly, the horror quickly re-establishes itself.

Lady in Red

A woman who is particularly sexy will often don a sleek red dress at one point or another. This will inevitably turn the heads of most men in the general vicinity.

Last Second Save

A ton of movies have a very cliche scene where somebody ends up falling to what would seem to be inevitable death, be it off a building, a cliff, or what have you. Naturally, our timely protagonist (not always the case, however...) manages to dive and grab the falling persons hand just in time, saving them.

Love Interests are Allergic to Sequels

The Doctor has several lost loves.

National Landmark Goes "Boom"

The Slitheen clip Big Ben with a spaceship. Later, in Voyage of the Damned, the new Titanic nearly clips Buckingham Palace.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Upon seeing or hearing something dramatic or violent, the protagonist will let loose with their best, slow-motion "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

One Man Army

The hero can take out a whole army alone.

Plot-Related News Network

Often uses BBC News, as well as fictional networks

Reluctant Hero

He doesn't want to save the world, but in the end, he saves it splendidly and gets the girl.

Sunglasses at Night

Why? To look cool.

Tempting Fate

"What could possibly go wrong?"

The Friend You Never Knew You Loved

That girl or boy in your life who you never knew could be the one true love of your life!

The Inaudible Whisper

In Season 3, Episode 12 "The Sound of Drums" The Doctor whispers something to Martha Jones. In the next episode "The Last of the Time Lords" it is revealed what this was.

The Wisecracking Best Friend

Audiences love a sarcastic character who cracks wise at every opportunity--they just don't want that character to be at the forefront of the movie. Hence the wisecracking best friend, the one you insert into a scene to give a bit of levity from whatever heaviness the protagonist is dealing with.

Unfinished Buisness

The Doctor and the Daleks, the Doctor and the Master

Unlikely Hero

The average everyday man somehow turns into the most badass hero that saves the day.

Visible Lasers

Pew pew. In film, lasers are visibly traveling through space and air. Too bad they actually need a thick gas medium to be seen.
