Starting this to see what everyone thinks of Matt Smith and how your think the season is going. Also please mark spoilers(if this get that popular i doubt it). Well my thoughts on Matt Smith is that he is actually doing a good job and i like how he portrays the doctor and well Steven Moffat isn't no Russell T Davis but he has some really interesting episodes.

Doctor Who Season 5
Im a big fan of Doctor Who (as a kid I used to get up at 6am on a Sunday to watch it over ~3 hours) and Ive been loving the "new" Doctor Who. This series no exception, this version of the doctor is really good. Vampires in Venice was a great episode, I like that by
I think my favourite episode from the new series so far is Amy's Choice. Love the concept and it was brilliantly executed. Toby Jones was utterly superb as the Dream Lord. I loved how he had multiple personalities and costumes throughout.
I'm enjoying this series so far. I think Matt Smith is a great Doctor, really quirky, and I do like Karen as Amy, although there isn't really a ton of character development in her. Need to see some more from her, I think. There have been some poor episodes (Vampires in Venice), but developing plot of the crack is really intriguing (especially after yesterday's episode).

I only got into Doctor Who this series (Have seen a few Tennant episodes before like the horrible christmas special with Kylie). I've enjoyed it immensely so far, I think Matthew Smith is doing a fantastic job as the Doctor and Amy has been an excellent companion (As well as being easy on the eyes), the crack that is following them around is an intriguing subplot to their weekly adventures aswell.
I definitely think the weeping angels episodes were the strongest this season, had me on the edge of my seat and was on of the best two-parters I've ever seen on television.

Didnt like the second ep after the really strong first one and a couple of them have been kinda weak but the statue planet episodes were absolutely fantastic. I really like Matt Smith despite wanting to hate him right from the off but he has nailed it...whatever "it" may be.
Amy is also a great character most of the time.

Trailer: Doctor Who Christmas Special
There won't be much Doctor Who until next year, but at the very least we'll have a C.S. Lewis-themed Christmas special to make the wait a bit more bearable. Plus it has robots. |
