The Doctor will carry the Olympic Torch.

You remember that episode where The Doctor picked up the Olympic torch and carried it the rest of the way to the 2012 London Olympic Games? Well, they're actually doing that for real. Kinda.
Matt Smith, who plays the current Doctor, will carry the torch through a part of Cardiff, the town where the show is filmed. I'm currently catching up on the Doctor Who reboot and recently saw "Fear Her", and I thought that it would be cool if this was done for the real event.

My only complaint? They should've got Tennant to carry it, for the sake of continuity. ;)

Another reason to watch the Olympics on opening day. I wonder if the host/reporter will point out that Matt Smith is holding the torch when he is running. It would also be pretty awesome if Matt dressed as the doctor when he is running, but I think that might actually kill him.

I wish it was Tennant, but I'm fine with Smith.

@Acura_Max: I hope he wears the suit then tears it away to reveal shorts and t-shirt. Or at least wear the King's Arm number 11 jersey from The Lodger episode.

Well, the Doctor lights the main torch too after carrying the little one to the stadium, so they'd probably have to break that continuity somewhere. (although, that would be pretty rad too) :)

If they did allow Tennant to recreate that moment from that (admittedly poor) episode of Doctor Who, it'd be pretty hilarious and excellent.

I'd be all for it.

There won't be much Doctor Who until next year, but at the very least we'll have a C.S. Lewis-themed Christmas special to make the wait a bit more bearable. Plus it has robots.
