Draco Malfoy is a character in the Harry Potter film/book franchise. Commonly known as Harry's foil, Draco takes on a larger part in the series during Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
Draco Malfoy is a pure-blood wizard who is the son of the Death Eater Lucius Malfoy and Narcissa Black. He is the bully that torments Harry Potter and friends in his early years at Hogwarts and leads his two goons, Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle, to join him in mocking and various other cruel deeds. Being a Slytherin, his typical traits involve being very proud, highly ambitious, and an extreme regard for those of a pure wizard heritage.
Despite being Harry Potter's rival and a follower of Lord Voldemort (much like his father), he had a tough time with the murder-heavy tasks given to him. His loyalties would shift whenever he was threatened or harmed by those who followed Voldemort or whenever he was saved or rescued by anyone who was on Harry's side. These instances would suggest that Malfoy is mostly a coward out to protect his own hide. He may come off as a cruel, smug, and malicious young boy, but like most bullies he is truly insecure and sensitive thanks in part to his mother's unconditional love and protection over him.
