Back in college, I remember being pretty amused when a lecturer commented about how important blogging had become to politics. The notion of a “politico” opining about current events while also giving updates on his mood and playlist just tickled me. Cut ahead a few years and I’m deeply entrenched in that other blogosphere; so much so that I’m again a bit amused by the notion of NPR geeks having their own equivalent of what we experience pretty much every day.
Case in point… a couple of reports at Deadline show that HBO's developing some projects about recent Republican politics. Somehow, I doubt the casting race for Angler, a biopic mini-series abou ol' Dick Cheney, is going to be speculated upon as much as that of, say, the Hunger Games... but it's still amusing to imagine long flame wars erupting over whether the new guy's portrayal stacks up to Richard Dreyfuss'.
Angler is, of course, something of a running mate to Game Change, and that movie's just added Ed Harris to play the McCain to Julianne Moore’s Palin. And I can't help wondering if it means something that Ed's got a hard act to follow from Darrell Hammond, who did spot-on impressions of both John and Dick.
