Edward Cullen is one of the main characters in the Twilight series.
Born human in 1901, Edward was turned into a vampire seventeen years later to save him from dying in the Spanish Influenza epidemic sweeping Chicago at the time. He is rare among vampires in that he does not view humans as food and, in fact, only feeds on animals. Now living in Forks, Washington, Edward falls in love with Bella Swan and devotes himself to protecting her against the shadow world of supernatural creatures that lurk all around us.
