A bunch of blu-ray questions.

Hey guys, I have some blu-ray questions I need help with. Sorry for asking so much!

So I found out recently that digital copies expire, how does this work? I mean, if I go to the store and buy a movie that came out in 2009 and that advertises it comes with a digital copy, has it expired? How about those that come with a physical disc?

I noticed there are a bunch of different editions for a lot of the movies, is there a site or something where I can compare them? There are so many that it would be convenient to see which has the most content, which has what physical extras, special features etc.

When it comes to region free, who do I trust? For example, on Amazon the Matrix ultimate collection is marked as region locked but on this site, it says it's not. Who can I trust? Also, when a movie comes with a DVD version should I just assume that's region locked or region free? Do you guys think region free players are worth it, do they have any bad points?

Thanks. :)

Okay, I have a lot of these things answered but I'm still not sure about the DVD thing. For example, for the same price as the normal edition is here I can get the gift edition of Toy Story with a bunch of extra stuff but the DVD won't work on my player. Not only that, things like the Godfather collection which have special features only on the DVD are $100 cheaper but the DVD won't work here.

What would you guys do? Does hacking a DVD player (by entering a set of numbers etc) result in any technical issues? \

Man, this is crazy. >__>

I bought a region free DVD player from amazon a long while that involved me entering a code and setting it to region 0, I still use that DVD player and have never had technical problems, it's not really hacking just changing the inbuilt options.

From my experience it's more likely DVDs are region locked unless they specifically say otherwise.

Sorry if I'm not that helpfully, I'm not a very technical person.
