I think we're just going to skip the What To Watch for today. I'll be honest, it's a little tough writing up a post about TV when the listings are effectively nothing but a big block of the word "REPEAT" in red over and over again. Luckily for all of you, I was in something of a bad way after a night of drinking on Monday, so I managed to skip the DVD/Blu-Ray post that was supposed to go up yesterday. And, well, here it is now!

It's kind of interesting to see what comes out the week after Christmas. Obviously any movies that the studios thought would make a good gift hit store shelves weeks ago, so now we get a movie that should really only be bought by extreme fans of Resident Evil, and even most of those probably won't get much of a thrill out of Afterlife. I will give Milla Jovovich credit for proclaiming The Last Airbender to be one of her favorite films of the year, but...wait, why would I want to give her credit for that? There are statements that are boldly individualistic, and there statements that are dumb, and I think we know which side of the coin that sentence falls on.

Anyway, read on to check out the scraps of DVDivized entertainment that are available to you on this snowy (East Coast) or rainy (West Coast) Wednesday.

DVD

1. Resident Evil: Afterlife

It's pretty impressive that a big-budget zombie movie managed to make 80% of its money overseas, but when that movie is absolutely terrible, there's not much to applaud there. With almost $300 million in the bank, though, it's virtually impossible that we're not going to see another couple entries in the series.

2. The American

This is one of those movies that most people walked out absolutely hating; I think its Cinemascore number (based on polling people as they walk out of screenings) was a D- or an F or something like that. Two different people fell asleep at the screening I was at. But hey, I still dug it. Enough to buy it? Maybe not, but it's worth another rental.

3. Legendary

What's Danny Glover and Patricia Clarkson doing in a movie with John Cena? Oh, making money, right.

4. Twelve

How do you manage to lose money on a movie that cost $5 million to make? Have it star 50 Cent and have Joel Schumacher direct it. Despite being released in over 230 theaters, this only made a couple hundred thousand dollars and has a whopping 4% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

5. And Soon the Darkness

Another American-tourist-girls-in-trouble movie that's coming straight to DVD. Got a need to see another Amber Heard movie? Well, here you go.

6. Samson and Delilah

An Aboriginal Outback love story. Sure.

7. Battlestar Galactica: Razor

I'm not sure if this is the first time this somewhat underachieving one-off movie is coming to Blu-Ray, but regardless, here it is!

8. Made in Romania

"You'll be in hysterics at this madcap movie production gone wrong!" My theory about behind-the-scenes-of-Hollywood films is that only film industry insiders really find them interesting, with a few exceptions here and there. The rest of us just want to see a movie, not a movie about the wacky misadventures of making a movie.

9. Legacy

An apparently interesting psychological thriller starring the always fun Idris Elba. I wonder if we'll ever stop calling him Stringer Bell?

10. Archer

Archer: Season 1 hits shelves, alongside the second season of Jersey Shore and the second season of United States of Tara, both of which are also available in two-season collections.

Alpha and OmegaLegendary and Death at a Funeral, oh how far Danny Glover has fallen.

Archer isn't available on Blu Ray. That sucks.

Man, I've barely heard of any of those. Hopfully I get a chance to pick up The American today.

I heard Legacy was pretty good, I'll drop that into my Netflix queue, along with The American.

Legendary was actually not terrible. I wont be buying it, just throwing that out there

Oh man, I need to pick up The American.  I love that movie probably more than it deserves, but something about its quiet moodiness surprised the hell out of me.

I just picked up The American and Easy A.

....I hope they don't suck.

don't be too quick to write off Samson and Delilah. Incredibly well made film, worth a watch.
