Ok, so I've reinvigorated my home movie exprerience.  Mainly by going down the media server route and streaming all my content, but that's not the point of this post.  The point is to talk about genre softspots of mine.  I have 'actor' softspots, actors whom I try to watch/own every movie they've done, but lately I've been in this modern-age sword and sandal rut.  I say modern age because I've no interest in old super swashbucklers for some reason, and very little interest sword and sandals before about Braveheart.  This is a weird arbitrary distinction, I know, and has to do with Braveheart being the first movie I've ever seen more than 10 times or so in the space of a year (I was young...)

Anyways, I just thought I'd spark a conversation: do you have strange genre softspots like this?  Also, are there other people like me who for some reason really like the modern sword and sandal genre?  I'm also trying to make sure I haven't left anything out.  Here's my current list of what I have and what I intend to add:
Braveheart
Gladiator
Troy
Alexander (Revisited Edition)
Master and Commander (Yes, not exactly but in my personal softspot, weird)
Kingdom of Heaven (on the to get list)
The new Robin hood (not sure if on my to by list)

Anyways, so what are your particular softspots, and what's your thoughts on the modern sword and sandal?

@mfpantst: I have an embarrassing soft spot for shark movies. Especially terrible ones...
