Harry Potter question

I'm a collector. Admitting this is the first step. So when I got a bug up my ass to buy all the Harry Potter Blu-Rays so I could watch them (I stopped after movie #3), I found out that I have a ton of options. I put six (6) Ultimate Edition Blu Rays into my amazon.com shopping cart and paused before I spent over $200 on a set of movies I've barely even watched.

Which brings me here -- I need help. At an average of $30 a pop, the Ultimate Editions are 200-300% of the cost of the stand alone BDs. The big claim to fame appears to be an 8 hour making of feature that will eventually be spread across the 8 films. Help me, is this worth it? I will watch extras ONCE at best. Any opinions from those who have taken the plunge? Am I the only one dumb enough to consider this? WTF is wrong with me?

If you don't really care about the extra features, it seems a little foolish to shell out extra cash for them.

Surely when Deathly Hollows Part 2 is released on Blu Ray/DVD they will have one big mega set with all the movies + even more extras. Perhaps wait and see what they are gonna do if you can wait

You should definitely wait until Part 2 is on DVD and they bring out a box set with all the films. Although, it might be a bit longer until they bring out the 'ultimate' version (get people to buy the first set, then screw them over with the collector's rerelease).

I don't think it is worth it. I was just as enticed about the Ultimate Editions, because I believe the first 2 have extended cuts on there, but I couldn't justify a double dip and have found the plain old blu-rays satisfy me just fine.

I was slightly gutted when my Dad and Brother bought me the Blu Ray collection for Christmas last year. I have no idea what possessed him. He knew the final film hadn't come out, and I in know way asked him to buy it me! Now I feel l if I buy the big collection of them they will be upset they spent the money on me. If I just buy the last DVD separately I might miss out on some special features in the big collection. These first world problems are terrible.
